10 Family-Friendly Movies With Ridiculously High Body Counts

10. Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Body count: 84 The film which pushed the Motion Picture Association of America to its tipping point in the mid 80s was Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom - with its scenes of child slavery and human sacrifice even Spielberg himself conceded that a new rating was required to meet the demands of filmmakers. While Temple Of Doom has a high body count, Raiders Of The Lost Ark - the first installment in the Indiana Jones series - comes out on top. Raiders is perhaps the most serious-minded of the franchise and there are some gruesome deaths, and Spielberg isn't afraid to show the blood when someone gets shot directly in the middle of the forehead. Surprisingly, Marion's body count tally is the same as Indie's - they both kill 9 people - while perhaps unsurprisingly the most deaths in one scene occur when the Nazis foolishly open the Ark of the Covenant. Here, 34 of the total 84 characters are duly dispatched to meet their maker.
