10 Family Movies With Mind-Blowingly Questionable Morals

1. Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory blie Mr Dahl's crowning achievement. How this film passed the censors without an x rating (or an 'NC-17' if you're American) is beyond me. The morals in this film are frankly shocking. I have included the original because at least in the Burton remake you see the victims are still alive at the end of the film. In this original you don't even see that. We are left to assume the worst. Let's break this down. A man called Willy Wonka takes an odd tribe of small men away from their homes and families and forces them to sing annoying songs and make chocolate in incredibly inefficient ways. He then lures 5 children to his factory for the most twisted job (internship?) interview ever conceived. The children are then picked off one by one as, apparently, they have certain unforgivable character flaws. One is a bit fat. Another likes to chew gum. A boy likes to watch TV. Charlie on the other hand only has one flaw - a slight curiosity that leads him to near decapitation by a metal fan (highlighting Mr Wonka's appalling health and safety procedures). At the end of this film Willy Wonka then abandons his workers and essentially kidnaps Charlie and his family and sends them into space in a lift with no supplies. Shocking.
