10 Famous Acting Performances That Got Worse As Their Franchise Went On
9. Alice (Milla Jovovich) - Resident Evil
Few will argue that Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil films are the pinnacle of action cinema, though one of the initially more appealing aspects was Anderson's now-wife Milla Jovovich, a powerful heroine who became a credible action star in her own right, and happened to be a pretty decent actress to boot. The problem is that the first Resident Evil movie made good use of Jovovich because of her character's vulnerability in an excessive situation, but with each subsequent, passing entry, Alice became more of an unstoppable bada**, giving Jovovich increasingly less to do other than look sexy and cool while killing zombies. It's the script's fault more than anything, because by the time the fifth film, Resident Evil: Retribution, rolled around, Alice was pretty much a CGI-assisted piece of meat whose only memorable line of dialogue was "My name is Alice", due to its insistent repetition throughout the series. Jovovich can do the action beats in her sleep, but with nothing but superficial scripts to work from, her performances have been just as inane and thoughtless as the films themselves.
