10 Famous Actor Pairings You Didn't Realise Hated One Another In Real Life
7. Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams - The Notebook
Arguably one of the most beloved silver-screen love stories of today, The Notebook tells the tear-jerking tale of a country boy and rich girl Rachel McAdams falling in love during the early 1940s. The sweet wartime story was praised for the chemistry between co-stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams: such chemistry, in fact, that the two actors dated for a few years after the film. Yet, upon hearing of their relationship, director Nick Cassavetes apparently said: They hated each other. And now theyre dating? This reaction was apparently not uncommon among those present on the set of The Notebook: Gosling has said that they inspired the worst in each other while shooting the romance flick. Allegedly, there came a point when Gosling was filming a reaction shot and demanded a stand-in for McAdams since he couldnt bring himself to even look at her. Screaming matches ensued. Yeah, needless to say, their on-screen relationship, with Goslings character hanging off Ferris wheels to catch his lovers eye, was not quite the same. In any case, kudos to Gosling and McAdams for selling the performance enough to leave viewers swooning wistfully for nearly a decade now. Who knows - maybe the charm of The Notebook was enough to sway even its stars over to the lovers side of that fine line.
