As Witnessed In: Lone Star, Magic Mike, Bernie, Killer Joe, Dallas Buyers Club If you discount all the movies in Matthew McConaughey's filmography prior to those featured in his recent McConaissance period (and we strongly advise that you do), you'll notice a strange trend reoccurs throughout these ventures: the man plays lots of characters who wear cowboy hats. Just picture some of the recent roles and you'll see what we mean - is Matthew purposely taking on roles that give him the opportunity to wear these hats? Is that his secret? When you think that four out of eight McConaissance movies have this guy wearing a cowboy hat, we're getting to the point where the donning of said hats is edging towards "iconic trademark" territory - especially since McConaughey just won an Academy Award for his cowboy hat-based role in Dallas Buyers Club.
