10 Famous Actors That Debuted In Horror Movies
6. Meg Ryan - Amityville 3-D (1983)
Amityville 3-D hoped to ride the success of the previous year's sequel all the way to the bank with its new three dimensional gimmick attached. The movie tells the story of a writer moving into the titular house to disprove its "haunted" reputation. Unfortunately he finds just the opposite is true.
There's no way to sugarcoat it - Amityville 3-D is a rather embarrassing, on-the-nose film that mostly consists of actors sticking objects into the camera with sub-par performances and visual effects thrown in for good measure. A failure at the box-office, the movie would likely be forgotten today were it not for the fact it happens to be the film debut of Hollywood's golden girl Meg Ryan.
The queen of 1980s rom-coms turns in quite an impressive and likeable performance as Lisa, the quirky best friend to another future star, Lori Loughlin. Ryan is truly a bright spot in this cliche-ridden ride as she shines with personality and charisma in her four brief scenes.
Seeing Ryan muse about sexual interactions with a ghost and gleefully recounting the home's past, it's little wonder her talents were soon recognized and brought to bigger and better things. Her quirky performance serves as a welcome respite from the bad 3-D effects.
