10 Famous Actors Who Were Totally Discovered By Chance

2. Harrison Ford

Who knew that being a kick-ass carpenter could land you a seat in the Rebel Alliance? In the mid-70s, little-known actor Harrison Ford - unhappy with the roles being given to him - decided to take a safe career path in carpentry instead. He became a stagehand for the legendary rock band "The Doors" before being hired to build cabinets at the home of director George Lucas (you can see where this is going), who then cast him as a supporting role in his then-upcoming movie "American Graffiti". Five years later, Ford was fitting doors at Lucas' film studio, where he was filming "Star Wars". He was hired by Lucas to read lines for actors auditioning for parts, but his own performance won over Ford (who originally wanted a cast of completely new actors for the project), and Han Solo as we know him was born.
