3. Natalie Portman
You know when you're minding you're own business, shoving a pizza in your gob, and a stranger comes over asking if you want to be a model? Yeah, we don't either. But that's exactly what happened to the 11-year-old Natalie Portman. Most girls at that age would jump at the chance; but Portman passed on the modelling gig, and instead told the Revlon agent that she wanted to act instead. That very agent led Natalie to her breakout role in 1994's 'Léon: The Professional' alongside Gary Oldman. As determined as she is regardless (Natalie has a Harvard University degree in Psychology and even skipped her first Star Wars premiere to study for her high school exams) there's no doubt she'd have made movie stardom without being in that pizza parlour - it just wouldn't have happened so soon.
