10 Famous Actors Who Are Skipping Movies In 2019

4. Ryan Gosling

With First Man now in cinemas, Ryan Gosling has played his final card for the next year-and-a-bit, at least when it comes to big-screen acting work. The man has appeared in at least one movie per year for the past eight years, so it's a bit of a surprise to see that he's taking 2019 off.

That being said, awards-bait movies like First Man are long plays; the talent involved - including the actors - are typically found promoting and discussing them all the way up to Oscars night at the end of February, so he's still got a busy couple of months on his plate.

But what might his next movie be? Gosling has been linked with various projects over the last year or so, including Guillermo Del Toro's The Haunted Mansion and Warner Bros' Willy Wonka prequel. But he hasn't formally committed to any of these, and it's not clear when we'll be seeing him grace our screens next.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too.
