6. Natalie Portman - V For Vendetta (2006)
I was first struck by Portman's excruciating British accent in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, but here in the action thriller V for Vendetta it's turned up to eleven and even worse than the sickly monotonous Queen Amidala and Queen Amidala was a piece of work,
girlfriend. My God she was a dullard. In Vendetta, it's far too prim and proper that it sounds utterly unnatural and staged, with Portman trying hard to sustain it and looking uncomfortable in doing so. She desperately wants to speak American, it's written all over her face. Bless her. As Andrew Lincoln does in The Walking Dead, throughout production on and off camera, she kept the accent going so that she didn't have to keep slipping in and out of it. Blimey, this must surely have tested the patience and willpower of the entire crew if she was speaking with the faux accent without even
needing to be. Bravo crew for not throttling Portman.
