3. Don Cheadle - Ocean's Eleven, Twelve & Thirteen (2001 2007)
Not once, not twice, but
three times Cheadle subjected us to his Cockney atrocity in the Ocean films. He's clearly 'avin a laugh with his rhyming slang, but it flummoxes me as to why they made him Cockney in the first place. It doesn't really serve any purpose whatsoever, apart from Cheadle trying to top a worst British accent poll on What Culture. Number 3, my man! Close but no dice. The films are loud, cocky and brash, seemingly too clever for their own good. Oh, and the less said about the Julia Roberts plot line in the second outing the better. But the fact that all of this is overshadowed by Cheadle's stereotypical Cockney drawl is fairly impressive. He genuinely thought it was a decent attempt, but we can however take solace in the fact that Cheadle has apologised for his sins and has vowed never to tarnish his lips with a British accent again. It doesn't excuse his crime, but we may finally be able to move on now.
