6. Helena Bonham Carter - Planet of the Apes
To be fair, pretty much any of the actors from Planet of the Apes could probably qualify for this list. Obviously, I mean, they're playing a bunch of monkeys. (Please don't tell me monkeys aren't apes, I know, and I don't care.) At the end, I went with Helena Bonham Carter, just because I genuinely do not see any resemblance between the actress and her character Ari. In fact, at the time this movie came out, I don't think I even knew it was her. Bonham Carter spent four hours every morning in makeup, and later said that by the end of shooting she came to resent the actors who didn't have to endure the ape makeup. The makeup artists had the ultimate challenge with the design of Ari -- they needed to come up with something that looked like an ape, but could also conceivably be attractive to Mark Wahlberg's character. You can argue about whether or not they succeeded in that regard, but it's still a fantastic design and the execution is very well-done.
