10 Famous Movie Characters Who Were Almost Given Awful Names

5. Doc Brown Was Supposed To Be "Professor Brown" - Back to the Future

Back to the Future It may not sound like a big deal at first, but when you recall just how many times throughout the Back to the Future trilogy you hear Marty McFly calling Doctor Emmet L. Brown "Doc," you start to realise how much of an effect this little tweak had on the series at large. That's to say, "Professor Brown" just sounds boring- as soon as you swap it around for "Doc" it begins to sound way more memorable. The change was certainly welcomed. "Professor" also makes the character seem a little too serious for his own good, and as we know, Christopher Lloyd played Doc Brown about as far away from serious as humanly possible. Branding the character the "Doc" not only gave us a ton of memorable dialogue cues, but it also made this character feel true to himself. You can't imagine that guy holding down a position as a Professor, anyway - he's too busy messing with space and time!
