10 Famous Movie Characters Who Were Almost Given Awful Names

4. Yoda Originally Had A First Name: "Minch" - Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

yoda-main1 One of the best things about Yoda is that he's mysterious, which is why revealing too much information about him is a good way to compromise the character at large. Back in the days where George Lucas still cared about things like "integrity," he originally thought about giving Yoda a first name, the horribly mis-judged "Minch," which you'll probably agree zaps the character of all his mystery. Lucas agreed, and opted for just "Yoda." This can all be glimpsed if you happen to have a copy of the original story treatment for The Empire Strikes Back, where Yoda is mostly referred to by this surname. Eventually the name was dropped because everybody realised they hated it, and "Minch" was later used to name a character in the Expanded Universe. But it's at least nice to know that there was a time when Lucas liked ambiguity - before he told us that Vader built C3-PO, of course.
