A film as jam-packed with unexpected twists and turns as David Fincher's mesmerising Se7en was always going to leave audiences jumping in their seats and needing a lie down in a soft, dark room after consuming it. But what many don't realise is that some of the actor's on-set were also completely fooled into very nearly cacking their pants for realsies throughout the shoot.

One scene in particular involving Michael Reid MacKay's rotting corpse of a "Sloth" anatomy being discovered by a SWAT team was said to have genuinely terrified those aforementioned actors, with John C. McGinley's response to the dead body letting out a spluttered gasp being very much authentic on the day.

As MacKay would reveal later down the road, Fincher neglected to tell McGinley and the rest of the SWAT team that they were actually sharing the scene with a real live actor instead of a prosthetic double. So, MacKay finally unleashing an unexpected cough eventually created a look of sheer terror that was as sincere as anything you'll see on the big screen.
