Film sets are stressful, precarious places. The creative minds behind them are always looking to control as much as they possibly can in their shooting environment to get the best visuals it can give their films. But when filming outside of a closed studio set, there will always be elements that are simply outside the grasp of directors and cinematographers.

Case in point, the revival Bond film Casino Royale. The movie was a heart-pounding shot of adrenaline that the franchise needed and was buoyed by a not insignificant amount of fan service and callbacks to iconic Bond moments from the historic series. This included a notable scene where Bond rose from the surf of a beach to show off his shapely body, a reference to when the first Bond girl, Honey Ryder, did the same in Dr. No.

However, this was actually not meant to happen. The scene itself is supposed to be Bond sneaking around unnoticed on the beach, so exposing his notable abs would be detrimental. During the shooting of the scene, actor Daniel Craig stepped on an unexpected sand bank, causing him to step up into full view. The scene had was important to the film and it would've taken too long to try and set up the camera rigs elsewhere along the beach, so director Martin Campbell decided to simply include the iconic shot.
