10 Famous Movies That Would Have Been Better Off With Their First Choice Actors
9. Stephen Baldwin As Jack Traven - Speed
Everyone loves the ageless bad-ass, and yet somehow nice, peaceful, Keanu Reeves ended up in this movie. And sure, he's brilliant in this film, isn't he? Yes, he is. But there is someone who would've been even better in that role, you know: Mr. Stephen Baldwin. Wait, wait, don't throw your computer out just yet. Hear me out. Anyone who's seen Baldwin in Born on the Fourth of July or The Usual Suspects knows he has real acting chops, he just has very rare opportunities to use them. The reason he'd be perfect is the same reason Bruce Willis was perfect as John McClane - he just seems like an ordinary bloke. Nobody really believes that Keanu is in any danger throughout the film as we've seen him escape worse in Point Break. Baldwin had never really appeared in action films before, so it would've been refreshing to see him experiencing these events - as brilliant as Keanu is, it would've been more realistic. Why did Baldwin turn it down, then? In his own words: "I didn't think the script was that great" - this coming from the man who thought Bio-Dome was a good script. I'm starting to think maybe Baldwin needs to get someone else to pick his films for him.
