10 Famous Movies That People Still Believe Are Cursed

3. Apocalypse Now

The Apocalypse Now shoot is legendary for its difficulty. In the words of the film's director Francis Ford Coppola:
"We were in the jungle, there were too many of us, we had access to too much money, too much equipment, and little by little we went insane."
Okay, so it was a rough production which saw the budget and Coppola's drug problems significantly grow, but curse? Let's examine the evidence. Coppola decided to shoot in the Philippines during monsoon season, against the wishes of a significant number of people, including fellow director Roger Corman. Many sets were destroyed and had to be rebuilt. Marlon Brandon turned up on the set overweight and refusing to learn his lines. Martin Sheen, who was battling alcoholism, had a heart attack. Coppola, as previously stated, went 'insane' and held up the production while trying to come up with an ending. So is the film cursed? It's unlikely. This was just clearly a case of too much money and too many vices. The film won the prestigious Palm d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. The film's production is detailed in the critically acclaimed documentary Hearts Of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1D2_bovy20
