10 Famous Movies That Became Too Real

6. Man Actually Carries Out "Project Mayhem" - Fight Club

The first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club, but for the sake of this article there's going to have to be an exception to the rule, 'cause otherwise this entry is going to be really dull. David Fincher's seminal movie involves a plot about a bunch of frustrated men who get together to punch one another into oblivion in order to release their pent up aggression. They also commit acts of terrorism on large corporate business, from time to time - you know, just to spice things up a little. Fight Club clings to the sort of premise bound to inspire copycat Fight Clubs in the real world, of course, and it did. Whereas most of them stuck to the fighting part and avoided the terrorism stuff, one such club went a little too far and opted to do both: bombs were detonated in New York City in 2009 over the course of Memorial Day weekend, as somebody targeted businesses they deemed to be oppressive. A man named Kyle Shaw - member of a local Fight Club - was eventually traced by the police as the man responsible, suggesting that he took Fincher's movie a little too seriously.
