3. Mary Corleone - Sofia Coppola (The Godfather: Part III)
Why They Derailed The Movie: Impossible To Take Her Performance Seriously Poor Sofia. There's a lot wrong with Francis Ford Coppola's third
Godfather movie aside from that of Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone, of course, but she's become a kind of poster child for all its bad points. And to be fair, watching her struggling to act her way through this movie is painful enough to derail it. Originally this role was supposed to go to Winona Ryder, who would have likely excelled in the part. Unfortunately, Sofia ended up being cast for some reason. This proved to be a totally erroneous move on the part of her father, who should have been wise enough to realise that his daughter was neither experienced either (and, let's be fair) or a good enough actress to share screen time with the likes of Al Pacino. The saddest thing about this is that it wasn't even Sofia's fault because she was just a kid, and now she's become the definite example for a movie miscasting. That's a real bad daddy!
