10 Famous Movies You Had No Idea Were Actually Remakes

7. The Tourist (2010)

the_tourist49You Know It As... That horrible, tone-confused Johnny Depp movie that served only to confuse people. The Tourist was released to an onslaught of negative reviews, most of which panned the movie's ridiculous story, and the way it flippantly switched between "serious thriller" and "goofy comedy" like that was okay or something. The story is based around Frank (Depp), a teacher who crosses paths with Angelia Jolie in Italy, and then some other stuff happens. Worst of all? The leads lack chemistry, acting as though they just met on the first day of shooting. It's A Remake Of...Anthony Zimmer (2005), a French-language movie, which far more successfully skirted on the lines of comedy and thriller, to the point where the movie was actually quite good. The title's Anthony Zimmer is a genius career criminal wanted by various police organizations all over the world. Sophie Marceau is the woman who loves him. There's a plot thread which involves plastic surgery. It's a conventional thriller with some nice twists, though it certainly works far better than whatever it was Depp and Jolie were trying to conjure up in remakeland.
