10 Famous Uncredited Roles You May Not Have Noticed

2. Brad Pitt & Matt Damon - Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind

Miramax Films

Cameos often work best when they're underplayed, and George Clooney's directorial debut, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, nails this approach perfectly. In a scene that takes place on set of The Dating Game, the camera moves along to reveal the contestants, and without so much as a 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge' to the audience, the camera rolls past Bachelor #1 - a shaggy haired Brad Pitt staring blankly past the camera. Whilst you're still working out whether that was actually the global movie star you have just seen, the camera reaches a side-burn sporting Matt Damon as Bachelor #2 and you realise that Clooney's played a blinder by drafting in his Ocean's alumni in an exquisitely executed cameo scene.

As a favour to Clooney, the Ocean boys offered their services for free and, by playing it down (without the song-and-dance of Pitt and Damon in a cameo) it makes it funny without being over the top. Sam Rockwell's Chuck Barris makes a semi-self aware comment in the background. "She's going for #3. I can't believe this." When you see #3 - the slightly chubby bloke with the ratty moustache - you have to wonder just how sick the woman choosing would have been, when she ultimately the mother of wrong choices.
