10 Fan Theories That Completely Change The Harry Potter Movies

4. Harry Goes Back In Time To Godric's Hollow

When the main characters are attending Dumbledore's funeral at the end of Half-Blood Prince, Harry tells them that he's not coming back to Hogwarts the next year. He's not totally sure what he's going to be doing, but the one thing he seems confident about is going to Godric's Hollow. The next time audiences see him is right before he's about to leave the Dursleys for good, and it takes a really long time before he and Hermione eventually make it to Godric's Hollow. Why does he wait so long if that was the only place he knew he really wanted to go to? Well, maybe because he already went. Picture this. Harry is getting ready to embark on this huge mission, he's steeling himself up for the biggest battle of his life, but before he leaves the Dursley's, he steps into the cupboard under the stairs and uses a time turner to go back to the night his parents were killed. Obviously he can't change anything, because there are very strict rules about that sort of thing, but he just wants to see them. He sits in the nursery for hours underneath his invisibility cloak, watching his parents interact with the baby version of himself. It seems likely that he might even talk to his mother: he might be strong enough not to try and save her, but he probably couldn't resist the temptation to have a conversation with her. Afterwards, he comes back to the present day, ready to face his fate, and he comes out of the cupboard. That's where the seventh film begins.
