10 Fantasy Movie Announcements That Would Break The Internet

3. Warner Bros Buys Rights To Stephen King's The Dark Tower. Volume I: The Gunslinger Slated For 2018.

312971-the_dark_tower_superAnnouncement: "Warner Bros. today announced it has bought the rights to the entirety of Stephen King's Dark Tower saga, and plans on producing The Dark Tower - Volume I: The Gunslinger for a 2018 release. Writers are being sought out to begin scripting alongside King himself, and directorial candidates range from James Mangold to Andrew Stanton." Why It Would Break The Internet: The Dark Tower is one of those other fan beloved projects that's had a following as long as the desire to see it turned into a film. Ron Howard has gotten the closest out of any one to actually making it work, and that project even had a framework to alternate between films and seasons of television. (Which would make the series much easier to keep moving along in production.) Also, to have Stephen King on board would be an excellent measure to keep the fans interested in a project that has long been seen as an Albatross to Universal.Sample Comment of Snark: "Well, at least J.J. Abrams won't be able to shove his lens flares in our eyes this time."
