10 Fantasy Movie Announcements That Would Break The Internet

2. Doctor Who Film Is A Go! Steven Spielberg Slated To Direct, Hugh Jackman in Talks To Star

Spielbergs Who

Announcement: "Legendary director and Doctor Who fan Steven Spielberg has officially signed on for the long gestating American film version of Doctor Who. This calls to mind Spielberg's involvement with the 1996 reboot ended rather abruptly, eventually turning into the one off Paul McGann TV movie. His Doctor is rumored to be Hugh Jackman, but so far he's only talking with Spielberg's camp. (This same rumor is in play for Kevin Kline, as his name has been thrown around in talks to play The Master.) The film is rumored to be completed for the 55th anniversary of the show's first broadcast in 1963."Why It Would Break The Internet: Here's another rumor that has had a basis in real life, only to fall apart at the seams. When David Yates was rumored to be heading up his own Doctor Who film last year, the Net exploded. That was just with a mere rumor, imagine if a studio actually moved forward with making a Doctor Who film independent from the official series, with an American in the director's chair. Sample Comment of Snark: "An American Doctor Who movie? Is he going to ride around in on a bicycle eating Reeses' Pieces? Maybe Spielberg will remember to end the film after one finale this time."
