8. Say Hello To The Astral Plane
While talking to the Wall Street Journal on a very general basis about Marvel movies, Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch used the term "Astral Plane". Although he wasn't specifically stating that it would appear in the Doctor Strange movie, it's a hint of things to come. Cumberbatch said:
I dont think its a risk because of Marvel. Marvel is a stable of bringing out ordinary comic characters and turning them into screen-like gods. Its very different, its an Astral Plane. Theres a huge new element to this Marvel universe thats going to be employed in building this story and this character. But you know, Im really excited about it, about working with Scott whose imagination is endless, and all the boys and girls at Marvel who know what theyre doing.
With that in mind, it will probably be a place that is visited in the movie. For those not already in the know, the Astral Plane is a dimension that can only be visited psychically. It is a place where the stakes are just as high as those in the physical realm, but Doctor Strange could quite easily be meditating in his home - the Sanctum Sanctorum - while his mind is engaging in a battle in the psychic realm. it will be very cool, if indeed it appears on screen, to see how Marvel Studios pull it off.
