7. Buffy Summers (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)
"In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer." Prior to the enormously popular television series,
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a less popular movie with a much lighter atmosphere than its darker serial counterpart. Directed by the now massive Joss Whedon and starring Kristy Swanson in the titular role made popular by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy is introduced as a stereotypical cheerleader at Hemery High School in Los Angeles. She is a carefree and very popular girl whose main concerns are shopping and spending time with her friends. Buffy is approached by Merrick Jamison-Smythe (Donald Sutherland) - her first watcher - and informed by him that she is the chosen one and that he must train and prepare her to battle evil. Of course, she doesn't believe him, but he eventually convinces her. We then see Buffy's transformation from high school cheerleader to ass-kicker extraordinaire. Buffy proceeds to fend off countless vampire lackies before finally coming in to her own and setting fire to, then staking, the vampire king Lothos (Rutger Hauer).
