10 Female Superheroes Who Should Get Their Own Film

Miss America would be sort of a cool idea if producers were interested in making a period superhero film. Everyone enjoyed the stylized version of the 1940s that we saw in the first Captain America movie - why wouldn't there be an audience for a teen girl superhero with glasses who got her superpowers after getting struck by lightning while tinkering with a visiting scientist's experiment? Nerd superhero: check. Girl superhero: check. This could be an incredible opportunity to get young girls into both STEM and superheroes at the same time.

But equally interesting is the possibility of making a film about the second incarnation of Miss America, a Latin-American teen named America Chavez, who grew up in an alternate dimension and has the power to kick through the walls of different realities. Not only would it be a great way to get away from the image of the superhero as white guy whose torso is shaped like a Dorito, the storytelling possibilities are virtually endless. She can go anywhere. Why wouldn't it be fun to explore that?
