Two filmmakers with a well-established reputation for on-screen violence, the late Tony Scott and Quentin Tarantino, collaborated as director and writer respectively on the 1993 crime film True Romance, which featured a host of famous actors including Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken and Brad Pitt. Arquette plays Alabama, girlfriend of Clarence (Slater) whose noble gesture of relieving her of her violent pimp (Gary Oldman) leads him into more than a spot of bother with an assortment of gangsters and villains. The most painful consequences of his actions occurs when mobster Virgil (James Gandolfini) interrogates Alabama in a motel room. Beaten within an inch of her life, she summons up the strength to turn the tables on her assailant.
