10 Film Characters Who Were Secretly The Villain All Along
6. Mary - Hancock
When we first see Hancock, he's a superhero with a negative outlook on life, a drinking problem, and a serious amnesia problem.
As we later learn, this amnesia means that he doesn't remember his former wife, Mary, who just so happens to now be married to Hancock's public relations specialist. Mary is also a super-powered immortal like her former husband, and perfectly remembers their time together. She just... decides he doesn't need to know for eighty years, and for most of the film itself.
Now, by no means is Mary obliged to coddle Hancock, but it's pretty clear that a lot of his problems come from the idea that he is different to the rest of the world and, because of this, an intrinsically unlovable person. Mary wouldn't have had to go back to him to help him - literally just letting him know other people like him existed and at least cared for him once would have likely been enough for him to get his head straight.
Sure, immortals lose their powers when near one another - but she could have phoned, if that was the problem. Hell, an email or text would have done, if it meant filling someone in on literally thousands of years of their life.
