10 Film Directors Who Desperately Need A Win
6. Oliver Stone
Oliver Stone used to be one of Hollywood's most incendiary filmmakers, responsible for a string of classics like Platoon, Wall Street, Born on the Fourth of July, JFK and Natural Born Killers. However, in recent years his political stabs have become severely less pointed, and his genre efforts instantly forgettable.
World Trade Center, W. and Snowden all lacked the insight and focus that characterized his earlier, similarly-themed efforts, Savages and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps were by-the-book genre movies that didn't really have anything to say, while the less said about the ill-fated Alexander the better.
Stone's singular voice used to be one of the loudest and most powerful in the industry, but if he continues down this current trajectory he could find himself in 'old man yells at cloud' territory before too long.
