10 Film Franchises That Are Officially In Jeopardy

8. The DC Movie Series

If box office takings were the only thing that counts, the DC movie universe would be in top shape, but the sweeping changes it's seen of late suggest reviews are a big deal too.

Wonder Woman restored some optimism to the franchise as its only unequivocal hit so far, but the divisiveness of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad had long since taken its toll, and the future of the shared universe could hinge on Justice League's success.

Sure, there are reasons to believe Justice League won't be a total car crash, but it's fair to say the universe it belongs to is not the Marvel killer Warner Bros was looking for, which is no doubt why it's taking a broader approach to DC movies going forward.

The launch of the new DC Entertainment label, which will include projects like The Joker solo film, suggests the studio is ready to pursue standalone comic book movies if the big team-up fails to hit all of the right notes critically and commercially.

Wonder Woman was a great start for Warner and its turnaround efforts, but its shared DC universe is still in a delicate state and needs Justice League to succeed, otherwise they might have to push that reset button all the way down.
