10 Film Franchises That Are Officially In Jeopardy

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows wasn't a bad film by producer Michael Bay's standards, but its predecessor was a terrible franchise starter and the sequel paid the price at the box office.

His first attempt at a Turtles movie, directed by Jonathan Liebesman, raked in a cool $493.3 million, but the fans who were burned the first time around clearly didn't return to cinemas for the sequel, which only bagged $245.6 million despite being a vasty superior movie.

By Paramount Pictures' lofty standards, this effectively counts as a box office bomb and the sharp dip in profits means a third film is unlikely, despite Turtles having no less creative potential than Bay's Transformers series.

Indeed, lead actors including Noel Fisher and Megan Fox were contracted for three more Turtles films, but in October last year producer Andrew Form revealed that no plans for another instalment are in place.

From the look of things, the Turtles are destined to remain hidden away in the sewers until enough time has passed to justify another reboot.
