8. Alien/Prometheus Films
We all know how fantastic and genre defining both Alien and Aliens were, so to reiterate would be a less interesting waste of time than if I were to talk about how godawful Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, AVP, AVP: Requiem and Prometheus are. Every film on that list is equal parts dreadful and for the most part the problem each time lay with FOX and either who they hired or didn't hire to helm the films. Alien 3 had a famously difficult time being made and the result was an interesting but pointless sequel that just repeated the tricks of the original film only nowhere near as successfully. Resurrection shows what happens when you hire the man who would helm Amelie to direct an installment of a horror in space franchise. An uneven film that has plot and pacing difficulties. AVP and AVP Requiem were films that were just lazy cash-ins that tried their best to attract fans of two long extinct franchises that ultimately suffered the fate of all video-game adaptations, fading into obscurity. The recent Prometheus despite such promise, ended up being an overplotted mess that again we should have expected from the man who co-wrote the most frustrating show in television history. It's time to let this beast finally die.
