10 Films Hollywood Should Actually Remake

9. Thelma & Louise (1991)

To be fair, this film doesn't necessarily need a remake. Thelma & Louise (1991) actually stands solid as a conceptually progressive film about two women who defy the androcentric society they have been wronged by and take a journey together that will ultimately end in poetic tragedy.

However, in light of the #MeToo movement, an argument could be made that the world needs a film like this again, or maybe we just need a reimagined version. The implied homosexual and eroticised relationship between Thelma and Louise is something to be explored and, perhaps, the story can be placed in our current political climate to tackle the bigotry of men and TERFS.

Somebody like Patty Jenkins would be ideal for remaking Thelma & Louise, based on Monster (2003) alone. A remake could easily stray into Baise Moi (2000) territory but perhaps this remake could focus more on the relationship between the two women as it does in Monster as opposed to the hardened, murderous nature of the characters in Baise Moi.

As for who would play our heroines, any actress akin to the likes of Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone or Rachel Weisz would be a good fit.
