3. The Zuni Tiki Fetish Doll, AKA "He Who Kills" (Trilogy Of Terror)

Trilogy of Terror is a cult classic anthology that features Karen Black portraying the lead female of each story (all of which are unrelated). In the third part of the trilogy, simply titled Amelia, Black plays a woman who is controlled by her domineering mother, despite living on her own in a swank high-rise. During a phone conversation with her mother, she tells her of the interesting doll she has purchased for a suitor's birthday. The doll allegedly contains the spirit of an aboriginal warrior named He Who Kills. A scroll that comes with the doll makes it clear that the gold chain that's attached to it keeps the spirit of the aborigine inside the doll. Somehow, someway, the chain comes off and the doll sets out to capture it's "prey." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RAxCWU4of0 Why You Rooted For Him: The doll is frightening, insanely fast, and Amelia has virtually no chance against it; although she displays an amazing amount of cunning and resiliency against this little creep. You feel bad for Amelia and root for her, but she constantly makes stupid mistakes in the midst of being attacked. When she gets behind the safety of closed doors, Amelia will watch in silent bewilderment as the fetish doll finds some way of unlocking it or barging in, instead of barricading the door with furniture or the like. When dialing the operator for the police, Amelia shrieks, "I don't know where I am, just get the police!" You live there, Amelia... my God, get a grip, girl! Aside from all these miscues, Amelia also continuously assumes the doll is destroyed every time it stops shrieking and grunting, leading to its inevitable escape from the suitcase she has trapped him in or the tub she has tried to drown him in.
