10 Films That Cost WAY More Than They Needed To

2. Avengers: Age Of Ultron - $365 Million

Every single title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe cost a fortune, especially the Avengers movies. But it was totally worth it, since each of them made enough to buy a small country.

On top of that, the Avengers series received consistent praise. The first entry was responsible for making the world take the MCU seriously. Avengers: Infinity War is often regarded as the best entry in the franchise. Avengers: Endgame was a perfect conclusion to a 20+ movie story arc and became the most successful film in history.

In hindsight, the Avengers tetralogy seems perfect... except for Avengers: Age of Ultron. As well as being regarded as the black shape, this sequel cost a preposterous $365 million, making it the most expensive film, not just in the Avengers series, but in the entire MCU.

So, the big question is - why? I mean, if you look at any scene for a minute, you can obviously tell Disney had to dig deep into their pockets to make Age of Ultron see the light of day.

But considering the two follow-ups had a lot more action, a staggeringly sized cast, and far more complex special effects, it's bizarre why this underwhelming entry cost so much.
