10 Films That Creepily Predicted 2016’s Biggest Moments

5. By The Sea (2015) - Brangelina’s Divorce

News of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s impending divorce might not have the same far-reaching consequences as this year’s terrorist attacks or a megalomaniac Oompa Loompa being elected as the next President of the United States, but needless to say the announcement rocked the world of celebrity gossip.

Together for 11 years, the pair amassed an impressively large brood of children and became the official spokespeople for a range of humanitarian causes. But by late 2016, Hollywood’s golden couple would sadly be no more.

Funny then that just a year prior to announcing their separation the pair starred in a film, By the Sea, that focused on an unhappy couple whose marriage is on the brink of destruction.

Written and directed by Jolie herself and produced by hers and Pitt’s own production companies, the movie was pretty much universally panned by critics with some going so far as to call it an ‘unabashed vanity project’. Jolie was quick to state that the movie was in no way autobiographical, but considering Brangelina’s level of involvement in the film there has to be a bit of art imitating life going on behind the scenes.

Sadly, while in By the Sea the fictional fractured couple seem to reconcile somewhat it doesn’t look like Brangelina will have such a happy ending.

Helen Jones hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
