10 Films That Embellished Who Actually Made Them
4. From Dusk Till Dawn
Who You Probably Thought Made It: Quentin Tarantino
Who Really Made It: Robert Rodriguez
Any film fan worth their salt probably knows now that From Dusk till Dawn is a Robert Rodriguez film but back when it was first released some ambiguously worded promo material suggested Quentin Tarantino played a bigger part in its making than he really did.
Granted, Tarantino did write the screenplay, executive produce and star in From Dusk till Dawn. Not to mention, with the wildly successful Pulp Fiction recently under his belt, giving prominence to Tarantino’s higher profile name was a savvy marketing move.
There were a few clues that it wasn’t a Tarantino directorial effort, however. Though its was typically violent in a Tarantino kind of way, vampires weren’t exactly in keeping with his penchant for pulp crime at the time.
A similar tactic was employed when its sequel From Dusk till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money was released: Scott Spiegel may have been its director but that didn’t stop its marketers claiming it was a movie from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino despite the pair only serving as executive producers.
