10 Films That Prove 1984 Was The Best Year For '80s Movies

1. Ghostbusters

The number 1 highest grossing film of 1984 and 6th of the entire decade was Ghostbusters. Originally intended as a vehicle for Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi entitled Ghostmashers, the film went through various rewrites before becoming the movie that we all know and love. Ghostmashers? Seriously? Written by and starring Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, the real star of the show is of course Bill Murray in what is probably the most famous and memorable role of his career. There's no one quite like Bill Murray when it comes to completely ignoring a script and puling it off, and his performance is no doubt largely responsible for the films runaway success. The film was followed by a fairly watchable sequel, with a third movie set to start filming in early 2015 that will no doubt be absolutely, categorically, irredeemably awful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0POXW4V1_k&feature=youtu.be What was your favourite year of the eighties for film? Agree that Orwell was wrong, or was 1984 a waste of time? Have your say in the comments below.
