10 Films That Prove 1984 Was The Best Year For '80s Movies
2. The Terminator
How did anyone get anything done in 1984 with some many incredible movies being released? Terminator is the film that launched James Cameron's film career and saw Arnold Schwarzenegger in his his ideal role as an expressionless robot that isn't required to talk very much. Brimming with car chases, shoot-outs and highly entertaining violence, the film is a fast-paced science-fiction action masterpiece that's gone down in history, influencing other film makers for over 3 decades now. Arguably not as good as it's sequel, it's still a great film and the source of Arnie's most iconic role. In 2008 it was selected for preservation in the American National Film Registry, meaning it is deemed "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant."
