10 Films That Prove 1984 Was The Best Year For '80s Movies

10. The NeverEnding Story

Never ending stooooooryyy, oooooh ohhhhh ooooooh ohhhhhhh oooooh ohhhhhhh. Never ending stoooooooory! Oooooooh ohhhhhh oooooooh ohhhhhhhhh! Try getting that out of your head for the rest of the day. The NeverEnding Story was a frankly bat-cr*p bonkers film based on the book of the same name by Michael Ende. It was an epic fantasy adventure featuring giant tortoises, racing snails, science gnomes, cannibalistic rock men and possibly the saddest death of a horse in cinematic history. It's simply an awesome children's fantasy film and forms an important nostalgic part of many people's childhoods. Although many of the special effects seem dated now, it's a timeless classic that kids are still discovering and enjoying today. On a side note, it's also a great source of awesome band names; Falkor, Gmork, Nighthob. It seems Atreyu, Auryn and Arcade Fire have all already been picked up.
