7. Amazon Rainforest - Cannibal Holocaust
If theres one film to ruin the mental image of a rainforest or an innocent turtle in your mind, its Cannibal Holocaust. One of the heavy hitters of the Video Nasty generation, this amateur film was the very earlier precursor to found footage films of today, but also disturbing films ever since its release. The plot is relatively simple - A man follows the story of a group of missing documentary filmmakers through their recovered footage, who were out in the Amazon rainforest, where they get lost, are forced to battle and/or dismember and eat wild animals and end up taking part in increasingly depraved acts before the indigenous tribe they were sent to document get a spot of revenge. Unfortunately this is exactly how the film portrays the Amazon - a cruel, unforgiving place full of danger. Admittedly the fictional filmmakers are setting foot well out of the regulated and safe zones that holidaymakers regularly visit, but by focusing on such depravity the film was bound to condemn wherever it was set.
