3. Grindhouse (2007)
Budget: $67 million Box Office: $25,037,897 I may not be the biggest Quentin Tarantino fan, but Grindhouse was a truly inspired concept. Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse film was a love letter to the films that influenced their youths. Trashy, cheap exploitation with over the top stories, gratuitous sex and explosions. Unfortunately for the two super star directors, their wallets were a little too deep to pull this one off. The three hour flick was a bit too much for mainstream audiences to handle. And the Hollywood big budget feel was way too much for true Grindhouse fans. There is no doubt that had this movie utilized a shoe string budget, bad dialogue and hacky acting, the end result would have been a fairly successful commercial hit with a strong cult following.
