10 Films That Surprisingly Boosted Sales Of Food And Drink

8. Twilight - Mushroom Ravioli

What does a vegetarian vampire eat? If you ever wanted to know the answer to that question, Twilight provides the answer. And, somewhat surprisingly, that answer is "mushroom ravioli", which admittedly is weirdly specific. OK, so actually Edward and the Cullen clan are "vegetarian" in the sense that they do eat animals rather than that they don't, with drinking animal blood being a preferable alternative to human, but that doesn't mean the sparkly one isn't interested in mushrooms as well. All of this is explained to sullen heroine Bella on their first date at restaurant Bella Italia (because the first thing that anyone looks for in a restaurant is one that shares your own name). It is during this meal that the courting couple share some mushroom ravioli, apparently because writer Stephanie Meyer's research consisted of calling the first Washington restaurant she could find and asking about their specials. As with virtually every other thing associated with the inexplicably popular series, the real Bella Italia gained a big tourist boost thanks to its association with Meyer's book and an even bigger boost when Catherine Hardwicke's film shot there. "Guests have flocked to the restaurant from around the world to dine on the ravioli" the restaurant states. In fact there have been so many thousands of mushroom ravioli orders that Bella Italia have turned it into a ready meal for Twi-hards everywhere.
