Walking Tall is a remake of the 1973 movie inspired by the true story of Sheriff Buford Pusser, who stood up against corruption in his home town and was shot in the face for his trouble. In this modern version, Pusser becomes “Chris Vaughn” and is played by The Rock, which means the movie plays fast and loose with the facts.

It’s apt that Arnold Schwarzenegger made a cameo in The Rock’s previous film, Welcome To The Jungle (aka The Rundown), because this is a glorified Schwarzenegger movie, with lots of punching, shooting and stuff blowing up real good. You can tell who the bad guys are just by looking at them, they have no deeper motivations than being evil and they behave in really stupid ways, like taking on The Rock one at a time when he’s armed with a length of cedar.

There’s even a comic book-style finale where the villains shoot up the station house moments after The Rock has spent some quality time with his ex-stripper girlfriend, who helps him take them out one after the after. Which come to think of it is probably just some Hollywood stuff they added to the script rather than something that actually happened.
