10 Films To Watch On 4th Of July

8. Independence Day

independence-day-feat Alright, so this one's sort of a gimme. But it's hard to think of a movie that's more blatantly all-American than this one - it's in the title, after all. You've got an alien invasion that results in the total destruction of the White House, and a group of brave, reckless fighter pilots who take said aliens down on the Fourth of July, of all days. Add in a wise-cracking Will Smith, Bill Pullman giving an inspirational speech to the American people, explosions, and the central conceit of American grit prevailing over invasion forces - there's just no contest. Paint this one red, white, and blue, gentlemen; you've got yourselves a bonafide American classic.
