10 Films To Watch On 4th Of July

7. Armageddon

armageddon_37126 On the surface, Armageddon is a film about a ragtag group of roughnecks who have to destroy an asteroid before it dramatically collides with Earth, thus dooming the planet dinosaur-style. But really, it's about America. If you're at a loss for a fun drinking game to play on the Fourth of July, look no further. Do a shot every time there's an American flag in this film. Boom. Wasted. The only thing that might disqualify this film from Independence Day viewing is the presence of Lev Andropov, the Russian astronaut stationed at the International Space Station. Unrealistic. Any real American would let the planet burn before accepting help from a damned Commie. Despite this regrettable oversight, Armageddon does tug at all of the appropriate heartstrings and heavily features one of the greatest American rock bands.
