10 Films Unfairly Rated R

6. Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog MillionaireRated R for some violence, disturbing images and language Of all the films I have selected this one may be the closest to the teetering edge but when taking recent PG-13 films such as True Grit and The Social Network back into consideration, I stand by my selection. There are a few scenes in a Brothel although nothing explicit is shown. Slumdog Millionaire primarily earned its R rating for the brief semi-explicit torture scenes of the protagonist accused of cheating on a Foreign version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The brief scenes include general violence and some shocking from a car battery. There€™s also a scene where a few antagonists are shot although it€™s completely free of blood. Slumdog Millionaire does have its brief instances of content treading the line between R and PG-13 but at its core it is a spiritually uplifting film about going from riches to rags in a desperate attempt of reaching true love and destiny.I fail to understand how that positive of a message can be deemed as a film only for adults.
