9. Through The Looking Glass (2015)
Speaking of bad films that grossed insane amounts of money, let's take a look at Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, a film that divided critics but grossed just over a billion dollars nonetheless (making it Disney's first film to do so). Whether you like it or not, a sequel is in the works titled Through The Looking Glass (though likely not based too much on Lewis Carroll's novel) and will mark Johnny Depp's return as the Mad Hatter. If it weren't for the incredibly lackluster performance of The Lone Ranger this summer, I'd say that Depp's involvement is almost a guarantee that the film gross over $1 billion. It will be interesting to see if audiences have grown weary of his schtick, or if those who flocked to cinemas in 2010 will do so again when Alice goes back down the rabbit hole in 2015.
